Good morning wonderful people! It is another rainy Good morning wonderful people! It is another rainy day in the PNW and I just needed to have a chuckle. I’ve been saving a few of these for you.

You’ll notice the bookends of these 10 slides give a little homage to two classics: one from 7th century BC and the other from 1992.

I hope you all find some joy in your day and this also gives you a giggle. Which one is your fave?
December 2022 recap. In the past few weeks, each December 2022 recap.

In the past few weeks, each of my kids has casually opened my Instagram accounts and scrolled through old pictures and posts, which led to conversations and laughter. It reminded me that one of my favorite parts of this platform is that it is a memory saver for our family. So, even when the memories don’t seem especially significant, I still want to document what our lives look—our mundane, normal, beautiful lives. I realize that doesn’t make for the most riveting content. I’m ok with that.

In December we spent some time with my side of the family to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. One rainy morning we a crammed into our favorite funky coffee shop in Florence, OR.

We were given a hand-me-down piano in December from Trent’s aunt and uncle, and right now Asher and Sydney are both having fun playing around and watching YouTube tutorials. No one has agreed to actual lessons yet. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sydney has been diligently practicing her choreography for the upcoming Mary Poppins play at the end of this month. (Let me know if you need tickets!) and Carson has been working many chilly hours at Dutch Bros. (Yes, he’s heard your thoughts about their invasive barista conversational style, and evidently, when we complain about it, it makes it sound old.😉)

December was also full with friends and family and cookies and babysitting and puzzles and concerts and shopping and general Christmas craziness.

I’m grateful.
I love this new/old (thrifted) mug my SIL @jmtompk I love this new/old (thrifted) mug my SIL @jmtompkins got for me! It’s a line from my favorite Christmas song, O Holy Night.

“A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices/ for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.”

Maybe today you can only relate to the weariness, and not the thrill. That’s ok. I actually don’t think we need the whole thrill. Just a speck. A dab. A pinch of hope that a new and glorious morn will break. Someday.

When we clear away all the additives and supplemental stuff that has become the holiday, Christmas is about recognizing that Jesus came. I doubt it was in December, but I know God chose to come to earth to be WITH US. In the mess with us. He was broken so that we could be fixed.

And as another line from the song says when “He appeared, the soul felt its worth.” I’m praying for a thrill/speck/pinch of hope in your soul this Christmas. A new and glorious morn is coming. ❤️
Tidings of comfort and joy from the Tompkins! Evid Tidings of comfort and joy from the Tompkins! Evidently we only take family photos at Disneyland or Hamilton. These were literally the only ones I could find. 🤷🏼‍♀️ We didn’t send Christmas cards this year, but we loved getting yours. Wish I could sit down and have coffee to catch up with each of you and hear the long answer to “how are you really doing?” Grateful for friends near and far, old and newer. Please know that are so loved!
