This may only be funny to me, but I had to share.  Around President’s Day, Carson came home and said he knew who Abraham Lincoln was.  Oh, good ol’ reliable public schooling!  Thank you for teaching my son about such an important and inspiring historical figure.  First I saw the art project, then I asked Carson what he learned about Abraham Lincoln. 
 “He got shot in the neck at the movies.”
I don’t think it’s really the teacher’s fault that this tidbit (with anachronistic detail–it was the theater!  But probably not the movies) was the most interesting to my son.  That may be more of a personality thing.  He did manage to share a few more morsels of info, like that his friends called him “Abe” and he was our 16th president.  We’re still working on the whole “helped to abolish slavery” factoid.
